How To...
To turn your song into an MP3 you will
need to do the following:
Download the proper record and/or encode software.*
Save (or "rip") your song from your CD to your
computer. Then it's just a matter of encoding
the .wav (pc) or .aiff (mac) file to an MP3 so
that it can be uploaded to The Industry Resource
server.
Be sure to follow these guidelines when encoding
your .wav or .aiff file:
- File MUST have an .mp3 extension.
- File must be no larger than 10MB (5MB for Silver Members).
- File name should contain letters and/or numbers
ONLY.
- File name should not exceed 15 characters.
- File should be compressed at a bit rate of
128kbps.
Even if your song is already on your computer,
but in a format other than MP3, you will still
need to encode.
Note: A few programs allow you to encode your
song as an MP3 while you rip it from your CD.
Others will only let you save your song from
your CD as a .wav or .aiff file, and then you
will need to encode the file as an MP3 separately.
